Renovation and Retrofit

Massillon Museum preserves the history of the community in a 60,000 square facility located in the center of town in a converted department store built in the 1920s. The museum needed a high tech storage facility to preserve the collection from the ravages of temperature and humidity change. The work went to bid and American Heattek won. They delivered a cost-effective, leading edge solution employing a Honeywell control system custom-fitted for the museum’s demanding environmental needs.

RenovationThe third floor was gutted before conversion into their long-term storage (up to 100 years) where temperature and humidity needed to be controlled within tight tolerances. The American Heattek solution went well beyond the call of duty. American Heattek installed a networked control and monitoring system that controlled environmental conditions within the specified tolerances. They installed the system as contracted and then took an unprecedented step. They painstakingly verified onsite the control functions to make sure that everything works as promised. For example, each Variable Air Valve (VAV) was checked to ensure that duct vanes opened and closed properly. In addition, they verified that monitors and alarms reflected the true state for each VAV. American Heattek cared enough to take the time to document and verify that the system they delivered performed as expected.

Renovation and RetrofitAmerican Heattek reviewed the other existing equipment left in place and advised the museum how to maximize the efficiency of the existing physical plant. The scope of work expanded as American Heattek extended the new control and monitoring facilities across all of the existing HVAC in the building. The museum reaped the benefits.

Even during shakedown and startup, American Heattek came through. As problems were identified, American Heattek troubleshot these problems with ease. In most cases, they didn’t even need to come on site since American Heattek could correctly assess and rectify them remotely based on symptoms/performance characteristics. American Heattek was consistently easy to contact, easy to work with the highest levels of technical expertise and professionalism.
